When Should You Start Wearing Maternity Clothes?

One of the most common questions in early pregnancy is when to start wearing maternity clothes. The honest answer: when your regular clothes stop feeling comfortable. For some women that is very early, for others it is well into the second trimester.

Signs it is time

  • Your jeans leave a red mark at the waist at the end of the day.
  • You leave the button open more often than not.
  • You avoid sitting down because your waistband presses on your belly.
  • Your leggings roll down and you keep pulling them up.
  • You feel bloated and want something softer around your middle.

Bloating can start early in pregnancy, long before anyone can see a bump. If you are uncomfortable, it is time. There is no prize for waiting.

What to buy first

Start with the bottoms. Tops can stretch or be swapped for looser pieces you already own, but pants are where you feel the difference immediately.

  1. One pair of maternity jeans for everyday outings. Try the FloDenim Stretch Maternity Jeans.
  2. One pair of comfortable pants for home and long days, like the FloMove wide-leg pants.
  3. One pair of leggings for workouts and layering, like FloSculpt.

Choose pieces that grow with you

An over-the-bump panel means you can buy now and keep wearing the same pair until the end of pregnancy and after. That saves you from buying a new size every few weeks.

Those three first pieces are exactly why we created our offer: mix any 3 styles, buy 2, get 1 free.
